Shenango Falls to Bethany

Penn State Shenango fought hard on the road but ultimately came up short, losing to Bethany 90-82. Despite the defeat, several players had standout performances, led by Malik Davis, who put up 22 points on an efficient 11-16 shooting night. Davis was also a force on the boards, grabbing seven rebounds, while adding a block and a steal. His scoring in the paint kept Shenango in the game throughout the contest.

D'Montez Owens contributed 16 points, though he struggled from the field, shooting just 3-17. However, Owens was excellent from the free-throw line, converting 10 of 14 attempts. He also demonstrated his playmaking abilities with nine assists and pulled down eight rebounds, making a significant impact even when his shot wasn't falling. Cameron Brown and Izzy Santiago each added 14 points, with Brown shooting an efficient 5-6 from the field and grabbing four rebounds, while Santiago collected five boards.

Penn State Shenango's shooting was strong in the first half, hitting 51.5% from the field, but cooled off after the break, finishing the game at 46.3%. Their three-point shooting proved to be a challenge, as they shot 37.5% from beyond the arc in the first half but managed only 7.7% in the second half, ending with a 19.0% success rate overall. Free-throw shooting improved significantly in the second half, with the team converting 86.7% of their attempts after hitting just 42.9% before halftime, finishing the game at 72.7%.

Defensively, Shenango had trouble keeping Bethany off the offensive glass, surrendering 25 offensive rebounds. This was highlighted by Bethany's Cole Dailey, who dominated with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Ryan Reasbeck also hurt Shenango, scoring 19 points and hitting three three-pointers. Despite these challenges, Shenango stayed competitive, but the rebounding discrepancy proved too much to overcome.

Now at 1-6, Penn State Shenango will turn its attention to the next game, hoping to secure its first win of the season. They will be back in action on Friday, November 22nd, when they host Penn State Lehigh Valley. This upcoming home game is a crucial chance for the team to bounce back and build some momentum moving forward.
