PENN STATE SHENANGO COMES UP SHORT IN FIRST ROUND PSUAC TOURNAMENT PLAY, 90-62

MCKEESPORT, PA- Penn state Shenango couldn't solve a stingy first half zone defense on Tuesday night at Greater Allegheny and eventually fell 90-62. The Lions shot only 33 percent in the first frame to go into intermission down 38-21. From there PSUGA rode on a 15 point second half scoring outburst by Eronn Hammond, a 5-8 senior from Pittsburgh University Prep, totaling 20 on the night and hitting on 6-10 from behind the arc.

Penn State Greater Allegheny also benefited from 16 points by Koran Fleming, 15 from Makis Rivera, and another 12 by Kenny Rouse.

Penn State Shenango couldn't seem to find a shooting stroke all night hitting on 4-16 from three point range and 12-24 from the charity stripe. The Lions were led by Tyler James with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Donovan Verges added 15 and 10.

The Lions, returning to post season play for the second time in two years, finished the season at 11-15 overall and 11-9 in conference play.

Penn State Greater Allegheny now moves on to the second round on Friday night to play at Penn State York.
