LIONS ROAR INTO THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT WITH SECOND WIN IN TWO DAYS

SHARON, PA- Penn State Shenango picked up their second win in two days with a win on Saturday afternoon over Penn State Scranton, 88-83. After three straight losses last week the Lions propelled themselves into the third seed of the PSUAC tournament and will now head to McKeesport to play second seed Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday night in the first round of the tournament.

On Saturday, the Lions fell behind Scranton 46-37 at the half until the team's leading scorer, Donovan Verges took over. Verges, knocked down 20 of his team leading total of 26 points after intermission to go along with 7 rebounds. Tyler James added 18 points and 7 rebounds before fouling out with two minutes left on the clock while Grove City native Brayden Martin added another 12.

Penn State Scranton received most of their scoring from three guards in the lineup. Cameron Jordan led with 21, Matt Dessoye 20, and Rob McAndrew knocked down an additional 16 for Scranton.  

Penn State Shenango finishes the regular season with an 11-14 record, 11-8 in the conference, while Penn State Scranton falls to 7-18. Tuesday night's first round opponent, Penn State Greater Allegheny, currently stands at number 11 in the nation in the most recent USCAA Division II polls. Game time is slated for 7:00 PM.
