PENN STATE SHENANGO SCORES BIG WIN ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON VERSUS PSU-GREATER ALLEGHENY, 66-61

SHARON, PA- Donovan Verges lit up the nets on Saturday afternoon to lead Penn State Shenango to a critical conference western division win versus Penn State Greater Allegheny, 66-61

The 6-4 junior from Ypsilanti, Michigan finished the day with 29 markers on 9 of 11 shooting from the floor and 11 of 14 from the charity stripe. Verges also led the team on the boards with 11 rebounds. Tyler James also had a big afternoon adding 20 points and sweeping 6 more off the boards.

Senior Kenny Rouse came off the bench to lead PSUGA (14-7, 10-5) with 13 points as Shenango held team leading scorer Makis Rivera to 11 points and 3 of 9 from the floor.

With the win Penn State Shenango is but a half game back from second place in the western division and an all important home game in the first round of the PSUAC tournament. Greater Allegheny currently holds the tie breaker , if necessary, by virtue of their come from behind win Friday night versus first place Penn State Mont Alto, 69-67.

The Lions take to the floor again on Tuesday night as they travel to Penn State DuBois. Tip off is set for 8:00 PM.
