LIONS PERSEVERE ON THE ROAD AT PENN STATE NEW KENSINGTON, WIN 69-60

NEW KENSINGTON, PA- The Lions struggled offensively in the first half but utilized a stingy defense to come up with another needed conference victory Saturday afternoon at Penn State New Kensington, 69-60. Hampered by 19 turnovers, Penn State Shenango collected 19 turnovers of their own to help fend off a game New Kensington team that stayed within striking distance until the final buzzer.

Penn State Shenango (8-11, 8-5) got a balanced scoring effort from their starting unit with Tyler James and Donovan Verges cashing in 15, Grove City product Brayden Martin collecting 14, and BJ Williams with another 12. James and Verges controlled the boards all afternoon bringing down 23 of the teams total 40 rebounds.

Jamison Nee, a senior from Natrone Heights, PA, came off the bench to lead New Kensington with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

With the win, the Lions keep pace with Penn State Greater Allegheny (9-4) who scored a victory against Penn State DuBois on Saturday, and set up a showdown next Saturday. The two teams will square off at the Buhl Recreation Center at 2:00 PM with a potential home game in the PSUAC tournament first round at stake. Greater Allegheny won the first matchup 65-57 in McKeesport.
