LIONS DELIVER IN THE CLUTCH, SCORE KEY CONFERENCE WIN, 63-54

SHARON, PA- The Lions jumped out to an early 18 point lead on Tuesday night but Penn State Beaver (9-10, 6-7) fought back to tie the game 42-42 at the 13:08 mark of the second frame. Shenango steadied themselves and finished strong winning the game in large part by hitting 13 of 14 from the charity stripe in the final minutes.

The Lions were led by newcomer BJ Williams, sophomore from Warren JFK, with 19 points on the night with Donovan Verges controlling the paint all night finishing the game with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Tyler James added 13 to secure the 63-54 victory.

John Foster, a senior from Austin, Texas, led Beaver with 17 points.

The Shenango defense held Beaver to 32 percent shooting on the night, and out rebounded their opponent 37 to 25.

With the win, along with 70-55 Penn State DuBois victory over Fayette, Penn State Shenango (7-11 overall and 7-5 in conference play) solidifies their third place position in the western division. 

The Lions now travel to Penn State New Kensington this Saturday, tip off time at 3:00 PM. The game will be aired live on WPIC AM 790.
