DONOVAN VERGES LEADS PENN STATE SHENANGO TO VICTORY ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, 75-63

HAZLETON, PA- The Penn State Shenango Lions started off slow on Saturday afternoon, down 18-8 at the 13 minute mark of the first half, until Donovan Verges stepped up and took control the rest of the way. Verges, a junior from Ypsilanti, Michigan, led the comeback with 10 points and 7 rebounds in the first half to put the Lions on top 36-33 at the half. In all, Verges finished the game with 22 points while grabbing 16 boards to lead the Lions. Tyler James also came on strong in the second half scoring 12 ( 9 on three's) to finish with 16 on the afternoon. Larry Ransom, Jr also added 14 points and 12 rebounds to play a key role in the win.

Penn State Shenango improved their record to 3-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference while Hazleton dropped to 2-7 and 2-4 in the conference.

Penn State Hazleton finished the day with four players in double figures with Robbie Hopkins and Jose David Pena tallying 14 each and Edwin Ferreras and Brett Kosciolek adding 13 a piece.

The Lions take to the road again this Tuesday night to face PSUAC West rival Penn State Greater Allegheny, now 7-3 and 3-2 in the conference. Game time is 7:00 PM.
