Coach Jeff Osborne comes to Shenango as a 1985 graduate of Hickory High School, where he participated on the varsity baseball and football teams. At Hickory, Osborne was First-Team All-Conference twice and played in the Pennsylvania East-West All-Star game. He would go on to college at Kent State University, where he played baseball for three years and was named the Second-Team All-MAC catcher his final season. In the summer of 1988, he was drafted by his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates, and would go on to play three years in the Pirates' system, getting as high as AA-Harrisburg. In 1989, Osborne led the Pirates' minor league system in batting average. Following his playing career, he would go on to coach baseball for 18 years at Hickory High School and several years with local little leagues, travel ball teams and Youngstown Class B teams.
The 2024-25 season will mark the first at Penn State Shenango for Coach Osborne.
