
The Penn State Shenango Women's Basketball team opened their season with a two-game road trip, displaying resilience and determination as they came away with a split record.
In Game 1, the Lions faced Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo, where a strong rebounding effort kept them competitive. Center Hailee Aguinaga led with a double-double, collecting 11 rebounds and 11 points, while guard Shar'Da Williamson contributed 17 points. Forward Alli Lewis added 10 points and five rebounds. Despite forcing 25 turnovers and out-rebounding their opponent 49-46, Shenango ultimately fell 66-56 in a hard-fought battle.
The Lions turned it around in Game 2 against Jamestown Community College, securing their first win of the season with a 58-54 victory. Aguinaga continued her dominant play in the post, recording another double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Williamson added 15 points and four steals, and Lewis chipped in 10 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Shenango's defense was instrumental in the win, creating 14 steals and forcing 33 turnovers to outlast Jamestown.
With momentum on their side, the Lions will return home for their season opener on November 12th at 5:30 PM against Berkeley College, aiming to build on the positive energy from their first victory.
