Coach Doug Dorio comes to Penn State Shenango following 15 years of basketball coaching at every level both boys, girls, men, and women. Dorio began to coach after playing basketball at Ridgway High School in Ridgway, PA, where he lettered three different years.

He would go on to continue his academic career at Clarion University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Athletic Coaching. From there, he went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Slippery Rock University.

Dorio was most recently head coach of the girls’ varsity basketball program at Reynolds High School. While at Reynolds, they were eligible for playoffs three times in six seasons. There, he coached many successful players including one player who broke the school record for three-pointers and another who scored over 1,000 points.

Coach Dorio’s coaching career consists of high school stints at Reynolds, Littlestown, Wilmington, Kennedy Catholic, Redbank Valley, as well as Clarion University.

The 2024-25 season will mark the first at Penn State Shenango for Coach Dorio.
