Penn State Shenango Falls to Penn State New Kensington Despite Strong Offensive Showing

The Penn State Shenango Men's Basketball team put up a solid offensive performance but came up short in a 90-80 road loss to Penn State New Kensington on Wednesday night. Despite shooting 47.7% from the field and an impressive 91.7% from the free-throw line, Shenango was unable to keep pace with New Kensington's efficient scoring attack.

D'Montez Owens and Izzy Santiago led the charge for Shenango, each scoring 19 points. Owens shot an efficient 8-for-15 from the floor, while Santiago contributed nine rebounds and two assists in a strong all-around performance. Malik Davis added 17 points and matched Santiago with nine rebounds, while Devin Alston chipped in 12 points.

Shenango battled throughout the contest, trailing by just one at halftime (38-37), but New Kensington's hot shooting proved to be the difference. The home team shot nearly 60% from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers, making it tough for Shenango to complete a comeback.

With the loss, Penn State Shenango drops to 4-21 on the season and 3-11 in conference play. They'll look to bounce back on Saturday, February 15, when they travel to face Penn State DuBois.
