Shenango Falls to Fayette

Penn State Shenango battled hard but fell to Penn State Fayette, 111-84, despite a strong effort on the boards and solid performances from several key players. The Lions struggled to slow down Fayette's high-powered offense, which shot an impressive 50.6% from the field and knocked down 20 three-pointers.

D'Montez Owens led the way for Shenango with 25 points and eight rebounds, attacking the basket and getting to the free-throw line, where he converted 7-of-9 attempts. Izzy Santiago added 20 points while grabbing nine rebounds and collecting three steals, providing a spark on both ends of the court. Malik Davis contributed 11 points and also pulled down nine rebounds, helping Shenango win the battle on the glass 47-39.

Despite their efforts, the Lions struggled with efficiency, shooting just 38.6% from the field and 23.1% from beyond the arc. Fayette capitalized on its perimeter shooting, led by Dasilas Jones, who erupted for 40 points while hitting six three-pointers. Shenango also had trouble taking care of the ball, committing 10 turnovers that led to easy transition baskets for Fayette.

The Lions will look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for a crucial conference matchup against Penn State Beaver on Tuesday. The game presents an opportunity to rebound from this setback and make a statement in the PSUAC West.
