Penn State Shenango faced a challenging road trip this weekend, battling hard but falling short in matchups against Penn State York and Penn State Mont Alto.
In the first game, Shenango dropped a tightly contested 77-70 decision to York. D'Montez Owens led the way with a game-high 26 points, shooting an efficient 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Malik Davis was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Despite their efforts, Shenango struggled with consistency from the field, shooting 32.8% overall, and couldn't overcome York's dominance on the boards, where they held a 45-25 advantage.
The following day, Shenango delivered another gritty performance but fell 82-74 to Mont Alto. Owens was spectacular, pouring in 38 points, including four three-pointers and a 10-for-13 effort from the line. Izzy Santiago chipped in 17 points, while Cameron Brown secured 10 rebounds. Shenango played a strong first half, shooting 45.9%, but their shooting cooled in the second half (28.6%), allowing Mont Alto to maintain their lead. Mont Alto's Veron Talla recorded an impressive double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds, anchoring the home team's victory.
Shenango will look to regroup and end their skid when they return to action against Penn State Wilkes-Barre at the Buhl Club on Saturday at 2 PM.
