Sharon, PA – Shenango Men's Basketball (6-4, 3-0) continue their winning streak against PSUAC opponents and a non-conference in Defiance College.
On Friday, November 19th Shenango Men's basketball saw Penn State Lehigh Valley in Tannersville, PA. Each team battled point for point. Shenango was down 9 at the half with Jashun Cobb and Cameron Brown scoring 6 points apiece, and D'Montez Owens snagged 8 points. Going into the second half, Shenango really hit a groove as Owens hit 13 points and Cobb with 11 points, with the team hitting 60% from the charity line. At the end of regulation, both teams sat at 77 points apiece. In overtime, both teams scored an additional 7 points in the allotted 5 minutes, with Malik Weatherington scoring 3 of those for Shenango. Double overtime is when Shenango took the lead for the first time of the night, and kept it to the end with the win of 96-93. Owens ended with 28 points, 4 steals and 5 assists while Cobb added in 21 points, 3 assists and 5 steals.
Saturday, November 20th Shenango was to face Penn State Brandywine, however, this game was forfeited due to COVID protocols, which gave Shenango another tick in the win column.
Monday, November 22nd Shenango saw a non-conference opponent at home in Defiance College (NCAA DIII). This game was another similar story, as Shenango saw a 10-point deficit at the half (35-45), but came back to win by 4 (79-75). The win was secured with 4 minutes to go in regulation as D'Montez Owens made his 3rd free throw of the night, bringing him to 50% from the line and a total of 17 points. Jashun Cobb went 100% from the charity line as he brought in 8 points there, and 16 points from field goals. John Figueroa went 4-6 from the free throw line totaling 14 points. Malik Davis chipped in with 5 points and a game-high of 11 rebounds.
