Penn State Shenango Struggles on the Road, Drops Doubleheader to Penn State DuBois

DuBois, PA – The Penn State Shenango Lions faced a challenging away series at Showers Field on Saturday, March 29th, as they were swept in a doubleheader by Penn State DuBois. Despite moments of offensive promise, Shenango's pitching woes proved to be the deciding factor in both contests.

In the opening game, Shenango's bats were active, racking up 11 hits. Dante Micaletti was a key contributor, delivering two crucial doubles, while John Perry added a double of his own. The Lions managed to push seven runs across the plate, with individual RBIs coming from Logan Cypher, Dante Micaletti, John Perry, Mason Bevan, Troy Bachman, JA Quahliero and Dominic Fornataro. However, the pitching staff struggled to contain the potent DuBois offense. Nick Osborne, tasked with starting on the mound, was unable to find his rhythm, ultimately taking the loss. DuBois's Grant Lillard delivered a standout performance, connecting for a home run and driving in four runs, leading his team to a commanding 16-7 victory.

The second game saw Shenango seeking redemption, but they faced similar difficulties. The Lions' offense managed seven hits, with Tyler Evans providing a spark by driving in three runs. Mikey Guarnieri launched a solo home run, and Remington Hart contributed with two doubles and an RBI. John Perry also added two runs and two hits. Yet, the pitching struggles persisted. Nate Evans, starting the second game, was unable to hold off the DuBois hitters, ultimately taking the loss. Du Bois capitalized on their opportunities, securing a 9-5 win.

Throughout the doubleheader, the Shenango Lions demonstrated their offensive capabilities, showcasing a lineup capable of producing runs. They will now regroup and refocus their efforts as they travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny for another doubleheader on Saturday, April 5th. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to commence at 12:00 PM, and the team will be aiming to bounce back and secure victories on the road.
