PENN STATE SHENANGO FALLS IN FIRST LEG OF THE ROAD STAND, 68-66

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA- Tariq Meredith, a sophomore from Philadelphia, PA, started off cold with only 2 points in the first half but finished with 16 in the second to lead Penn State Schuylkill to a come from behind victory over Penn State Shenango on Friday night, 68-66.

Schuylkill (4-7) never attempted a shot from the charity stripe in the first half by virtue of only four fouls committed by Shenango but drilled 16 of 18 in the second half to over come a 36-31 half time deficit. Penn State Shenango turned the ball over 18 times in the second half (31 turnovers in all) to aide the Penn State Schuylkill comeback.

Penn State Shenango, now 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference, was led by sophomore Larry Ransom, Jr (Youngstown East HS) with 19 points and 21 rebounds. Donovan Verges (Ypsilanti, MI) chipped in with 18 points and 10 boards.

The Lions continue the road trip tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Penn State Hazleton, now 2-6 and 2-3 in the conference, after their Friday night victory over New Kensington. Tip off time is set for 1:00 PM
