PENN STATE SHENANGO LIONS PREPARING TO IMPROVE ON LAST YEAR'S SUCCESS

SHARON, PA- The Penn State Shenango Lions will begin the 2019-20 season this Saturday at the Buhl Recreation Center versus Division III opponent Franciscan University, 13-14 overall and 9-9 in the AMCC Conference, last season.

The Lions will look to improve on a very successful first season in their return to competition finishing 15-12 overall and 13-6 in the PSUAC. Penn State Shenango finally saw their season come to an end with a 65-40 loss to regular season conference champion Penn State Wilkes Barre in the semi final round of the conference tournament.

The Lions will be led by a quartet of sophomores with Anthony Bailey (New Castle, PA) and the conferences reigning rebounding leader Larry Ransom, Jr. (Youngstown, OH) up front. Ramell Askerneese (Sharon, PA)  and Brayden Martin (Grove City) will lead the backcourt. Last season's leading scorer, Gannon Murray is out for the season with a knee injury.

Franciscan Universty will be led by their 2018-19 leading scorer Sean Hickey (15.0 ppg), a 6-0 sophomore guard from North Olmstead, Ohio and up front by junior 6-7 big man Matt Trent (12.8 ppg and 9.5 rpg) from Cleveland, OH.

Tip off is slated for 2:00 PM this Saturday.
