Coach Sammy Staples played high school and community college baseball in Nevada and California prior to moving to Pennsylvania, where he played under Coach Carmen Nocera at Westminster College. There, an injury cut his collegiate career short, but he eventually resumed playing in a competitive adult league and has coached and given private instruction at the Little League, youth travel baseball, junior high school and high school levels. 

The 2023-24 season will mark the first at Penn State Shenango for Coach Staples.
