Dear Future or Prospective Student Athlete:

On behalf of the Penn State Shenango Athletic Department, I would like to welcome you to a new and exciting phase in our campus’ development as we reinstate collegiate athletics and work toward building a stronger connection between college athletics and student life. We are excited that you have displayed interest or have chosen Penn State Shenango to further both your education and athletic career. 

As a vital member of the Penn State athletic family, our expectations for you are high and similar to your own important personal goals and expectations. 

Your personal growth and success will best be developed through academic excellence, preparation, community service, and team work.  This department will always support its students and recognizes that its primary goal is to provide the student athlete with a quality education. Always remember, you are representing Penn State University, one of the finest academic and athletic institutions in the country. We ask that you study hard, attend classes, practice hard, and do all you can do to excel. It’s a privilege to be called a Nittany Lion and wear the blue and white as a student athlete. 

The department will extend academic and personal support resources to ensure each student-athlete has the tools to obtain a college degree while having athletic success. We strongly encourage you to be responsible as a student athlete to utilize these services, so you can maintain satisfactory academic progress toward a degree that’s required by the NCAA and the Penn State University Athletic Conference. The entire athletic department will support you as you take full advantage of this opportunity to earn a college education while participating in intercollegiate sports. 

You will become an important piece of the Penn State Shenango Athletic Department and its community forever. Please don’t forget that every coach and administrator is here for you. We want you to succeed while on campus and beyond graduation. When you obtain your degree, we hope you will remain active with the Penn State Shenango Athletic programs as a member of the Alumni Association. We are extremely pleased to have you as a part of the Penn State Shenango student–athletic family.
